Thank you for visiting my page and showing an interest in getting to know me. My name is Laura, and I have a deep passion for photography. Photography, to me, is more than just capturing images; it's about telling stories, evoking emotions, making statements, and preserving moments in history. I find immense joy in the ability of photography to freeze moments in time, allowing us to revisit them whenever we please.
In 2016, I founded Rust and Bark Wedding Photography with a focus on weddings, couples, and creative conceptual work. My journey into photography began at OCAD University, where I learned how to turn ideas into concepts and stories, and transform my vision into tangible photographs. Drawing inspiration from old paintings, cinema and fashion, I strive to create images that exude a sense of documentary, romance, and a touch of editorial, through my composition and editing techniques.
While I am based in Toronto, Ontario, I am fueled by a passion for travel and embrace any opportunity to explore new places and meet new people.
My mission is to capture the raw and candid moments that reveal the true emotions shared between you and your loved ones.

who i am

First and foremost I'm a mom to my beautiful daughter. My favourite time spent is time with her, exploring a new spot and watching her little world expand more and more each day. She is what simultaneously pushes me, and helps me slow down to enjoy the little things in life. I have a wonderful husband, Oliver, who is the stable and secure rock in my life. We recently celebrated out 5th wedding anniversary. Our wedding was a day I'll never forget, in an industrial venue downtown Toronto with all our closest friends and family. Together, our little family spends time traveling, trying new restaurants and enjoying the outdoors.
During my downtime, you'll likely find me enjoying an intimate dinner at a downtown restaurant with close friends or my family. By 9:00pm, I'll be cozied up in bed, indulging in a show I've been anticipating all week, with a bowl of chocolate ice cream.

My approach to your wedding day begins from our very first email exchange. With a commitment to open and timely communication, I make myself available to address any questions or concerns you may have. Before we even consider booking, I love to schedule a Zoom call to truly connect and delve into your unique story. This is our chance to get to know each other better and discuss all your dreams and aspirations for your big day.
Once you've decided to work with me, our communication doesn't end there. It continues through any engagement sessions and right up to your wedding day. I want you to feel like I'm not just a photographer, but a friend who is there to share in your joy and calm any anxieties. Because let's face it, weddings are a rollercoaster of emotions!
I'll arrive promptly, camera in hand, ready to capture every intricate detail and heartfelt moment. As the day draws to a close, I'll check in to ensure we haven't missed a single moment. And as we part ways, it'll be with a warm hug and a gentle reminder to savour every moment of this evening.
